Food Foto Fun : )

So there is this food blog called Our Best Bites (http://www.ourbestbites.com/) that I totally love! They have so many good recipes and the other day I made their Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits. My camera was sitting on the kitchen counter and I decided to take a "shot" (I'm so funny, haha) at food photography. I had lots of fun experimenting and here are the results!

I read about a great tip online on how to cut in butter when making pastry or bicuits. This is frozen butter I grated with a cheese grater! It was tempting to just grab a handful and taste it! Like of course butter would taste better in cute little curls, right?

Adding a bit of flour to the cheese helps it disperse more evenly!

Basic dry ingredients

Yummy!

  2. I never thought about grating frozen butter! I'm always disappointed when I don't have any thawed and I need it "Right Now!". Awesome tip, thanks Lou! Your first shot at food photography is great!

  3. No problem Brett! And thanks!!

Amanda, I'm so sorry I never got you this recipe last year! I totally forgot! Here it is...

2 boxes Devil's Food cake mix
    2/3 cup oil
    4 eggs
Mix together cake, oil and eggs. Roll into balls the size of a quarter (or as big as you want) and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake @ 350 for about 8 min. (I underbake mine just a little so that they stay soft)After they are cooled put this icing between 2 cookies!

    4 oz. cream cheese
    1 cup butter
    2-3 cup icing sugar
    1/4 tsp vanilla

you can be generous with the icing, I usually have a bit left over! Enjoy : )
